Inspired by a recent Adobe-sponsored contest in the UK, Canada-based art blog BOOOOOOOM! challenged its readers to “Remake” some of the art world’s classic creations – works by the likes of Frida Kahlo, Rene Magritte, and Vincent Van Gogh. More specifically, the challenge involved remaking such works – no matter which media was originally used – in photographic form. Photographers could interpret the works as they wished, and post-production tweaking was to be kept to the bare minimum.
Alas, if you have not already submitted your creation, be aware that the submission deadline has passed. The winning entry (and recipient of the entire Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 Master Collection, valued at $899) has yet to be announced – but all submissions have been posted at the site for our viewing pleasure. Pleasure indeed – I am quite impressed with the quality and imaginativeness of many of them! I’ve shared some of my favorites below, along with each inspiration piece for reference.
