Artist Bruce Munro takes an, ahem, enlightened approach to creating awe-inspiring, attention-holding installations. Light is the medium of choice for this artist and his small team of lighting designers. At times, the team’s work is more practical, as when they design a visually appealing, yet functional lighting scheme for a hotel, restaurant, or other commercial venture. Really though, the team’s real “heart and soul” is, as they have said, their large scale artistic lighting installations which have lit up many a museum facade and botanical garden. Their latest and greatest is now showing at Longwood Gardens near Philadelphia. The exhibition includes six outdoor and two indoor large scale, site specific installations, all of which can be seen through September 29th.
Can’t make it to Penn’s Woods? Take a peek at the light show, thanks to these great photographs by Mark Pickthall, Corriette Shoenaerts, and Linden Gledhill.
