Starchitect Zaha Hadid and her team designed this tad-bit intimidating structure in Montpellier, France. True to the Pritzker- and Stirling Prize-winning architect’s style, the large sports center, library, and archive complex looks more like a spaceship than a place to read Camus or play a bit of basketball. While the building maintains a solid identity from the outside, inside its component activity spaces are kept separate. The main routes throughout the complex are demarcated by recessed glass tracing its way along the outside of the building. Take a closer look via photographs taken by Hélène Binet.
